C+C Photography Gallery is pleased to announce Nathan Coe: Tranquility, opening Thursday, July 25th at 30 A Main Street.
Celebrating 10 years since Coe's first Nantucket exhibition, the gallery is thrilled to present a curated selection of works spanning the past decade that embody his enduring connection to the island. Exhibition highlights include sought after collector favorites that are nearing the end of their editions, as well as new releases from Coe's latest 2024 Nantucket series.
Coe is best known for capturing the unique beauty of the natural landscape of Nantucket, seamlessly weaving together his passion for classical technique and composition with a forward-thinking, modern approach. Internationally recognized for his evocative, cinematic beach landscapes, in recent years Coe has introduced the unexpected in the form of subtle human intervention. Intended to be framed and hung in large format, his sprawling works appear almost like paintings as their sublime energy radiates throughout any space.
In his 2024 Nantucket series, Coe's newest landscapes explore a sort of quiet minimalism, while his nudes take on a more lighthearted, and at times, even playful tone. Featured works include The Inky, in which Coe has managed to quickly snap a nearly impossible moment of stillness on busy Main Street as his model seems utterly unfazed, her nose deep in the daily newspaper. Another work of note is Enlightenment, taken just behind Quidnet where the footprints of beach wanderers and car tracks intersect softly into the distance.
